From Soi 63 to the Phra Khanong canal

Ekkamai Road is Sukhumvit Soi 63. It starts at BTS Ekkamai and runs north through Watthana district, with numbered lanes on both sides. Ekkamai Soi 10 and Soi 12 are full of cafés and small bars, and the further north you go, the more the road fills with condo towers and low-rise apartments. Narrow lanes on its western side cut across to Thonglor.

Right beside the station, on the south side of Sukhumvit, is the Eastern Bus Terminal, where coaches leave for Pattaya, Rayong and the ferry piers for the islands of the eastern coast.

One stop further, BTS Phra Khanong stands by the canal that gives the area its name. Soi 71, also called Pridi Banomyong Road, runs north from here, and the market streets around the station still feel like an older Bangkok, with new towers rising behind the shophouses.

Massage in Ekkamai after a night out or a long ride

Ekkamai's evenings run late. Music bars, restaurants and rooftop terraces keep the lanes busy past midnight, so a booking after midnight is perfectly normal here. It usually comes from someone who has been on their feet all night and would rather sleep well than wake up stiff.

The bus terminal creates its own moment. Travellers come back from a weekend on the coast after three or four hours in a coach seat, drop their bags in a room near the station and want their back and hips loosened. Others book the night before an early departure, so they set off rested.

Ekkamai and Phra Khanong are also home to plenty of people who work from a rented condo, which means a sore neck by Thursday. A 90-minute Thai or deep tissue session is a better end to the week than another coffee.

Most addresses here are condos with a guard desk and keycard lifts. Tell us if yours has them, and be ready to go down and fetch your therapist. In Phra Khanong you may instead be in an older shophouse or a walk-up block off Soi 71; a map pin and the colour of your gate help a lot.

Getting your therapist to Ekkamai or Phra Khanong

Both stations sit near the heart of our area. Expect her in roughly half an hour, with no charge for the journey. The menu runs from Thai and oil to aromatherapy, foot and deep tissue massage, in 60, 90 or 120-minute lengths. Two friends sharing a flat can book two therapists at the same time, and one person who wants twice the attention can try a four-hands massage.

Rates are fixed, shown on the price list and settled in the chat ahead of her trip. Cash, in Thai Baht, is paid to her when the massage ends.
